And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherein he made Israel to sin.

Jewish tradition does credit Jeremiah the prophet as the author of 1 Kings, Other scholars attribute a group of unknown authors. The true author of this book is unknown. 1 Kings was written between 560 and 540 B.C. Idolatry has disastrous consequences and it causes the ruin of both individuals and nations. God offers forgiveness and healing for all who sincerely turn from sin and come back to him.
